Having the Tool for the Job

From the commencement of this website, people have been asking when will the classes start, and how can we get a copy of the book? But my question to them is, are you prepared to study Arabic ? Having the right tools is what aids you in completing any job with perfection. If a carpenter didn’t have a saw, a tailor didn’t have a pair of scissors, or a plumber didn’t have a wrench, they could not fulfill their task let alone perfect it. Concerning your task, you want to become proficient in the Arabic language. Your strong desire to learn this language and your willingness to work diligently it is not sufficient to accomplish this great task. How many diligent students who loved to learn Arabic were not prosperous in their endeavors? I have seen students from all over the world come to class with a toolbox full of all the wrong tools attempting to learn Arabic. Don’t presume that you are prepared to take a course in learning Arabic simply based on your eagerness to learn. There are qualifications, believe it or not, one must possess to study the Arabic language. No, it does not necessitate, as some may assume, having a dictionary, one Arabic/English and another English/Arabic, or that you memorize vocabulary, or that you familiarize yourself with the basics of grammar. Learning Arabic requires a tool; if you don’t have it, dictionaries and vocabulary words will not replace it. This tool is the main ingredient in learning Arabic. The absence of this tool has been the pitfall of many students and the main reason they did not excel. Therefore, pay attention to this and see if you are truly prepared to take a course in Arabic. The main tool needed to learn Arabic is the ability to read Arabic fluently. Struggling to read the Arabic text and stuttering while reading obstructs the learning process of understanding and comprehension. However, those who can read sentence after sentence easily, are prepared to comprehend the meaning of what they read. That is because weakness in reading preoccupies the mind from understanding the text, while proficiency in reading frees the mind to concentrate and comprehend. The student who is prepared and qualified to study a course in Arabic is the one who has previously studied how to read Arabic. The one who can read the Qur’an fluently from any given chapter. It does not necessitate that he or she can recite the Qur’an, but the more fluent someone can read Arabic, the more prepared they are to excel in a course.
Therefore, now is the time to prepare yourself and strengthen your reading skills because proficiency in reading leads to proficiency in speaking and understanding. Hence, learn to read Arabic fluently without stuttering. You can accomplish this by learning to read the Qur’an. Once you have learned, practice reading sometimes from the chapters you know from memory, and other times from the chapters you don’t know. Also, practice by reading along with an audio of the Qur’an in the chapters you know and in those you don’t know. Read Qur’an every day, concentrating on fluency and smoothness, not speed. The Beneficial Fundamentals in Learning the Arabic Language has been designed for beginner students who have not previously studied Arabic. Therefore, the sentences in the book are short and simple to enrich the comprehension skills of each student. Due to the importance of this matter, From Print to Practice has postponed the printing and distribution of the book to give you ample time to strengthen your reading skills. So now is the time to prepare yourself. I’m going to wait for you, I am here to teach you Arabic free of charge, and we are going to work together for the sake of Islam, but you have to your part. You have to strengthen your reading skills. We have an objective, and by the permission of Allah, we will achieve it by consistently striving for perfection.
